Car Care Tips

How often should you wash your car?

This varies greatly depending on how much you drive, where you live, and whether your vehicle is garaged or parked under trees. If you wish to protect the finish of your vehicle so that you will enjoy it for many years to come, it is wise to wash it any time the surface does not feel smooth when gently touched, or immediately after it is rained on.

If you visit the coast you should wash your vehicle as soon as possible when you return to remove any salt that may still be on the vehicle. This will help eliminate premature corrosion. If you run the back of you hand over the painted finish of your vehicle and it does not feel smooth it is time to wash your vehicle. If your vehicle does not feel smooth and someone or thing brushes against the painted surface, it may become scratched very easily. By keeping your vehicle clean it is less likely to be scratched.

Acid rain causes millions of dollars in damages to vehicles each year. After each rain, wash your vehicle as soon as possible. The mild soaps used at our carwash will help neutralize the affects of acid rain and prolong the finish of your vehicle. By keeping your automobile clean you it will look great for many years to come as well as maintaining a higher resale value.

How often should you wax your car?

The RainX coating that we offer at our carwash are safe for all vehicle surfaces. Applying RainX each time you wash your vehicle will help prolong the finish of your vehicle and reduce the frequency of hand "waxing" and or detailing.

There are many products on the market to help protect the finish of your automobile but very few actually contain wax, or more specifically Carnuba Wax. Many products that do not contain Carnuba Wax may work as well or maybe even better than those that do. It is important to decide what it is that you want to achieve when "waxing" your vehicle.

If your vehicle is still under warranty by the manufacture then it is wise to only use waxes or sealant products sold by the dealership where you bought the automobile. This way if you have any problems with the finish of your vehicle while it is under warranty it should still be covered by the manufacture.

If your cars finish still shines and you wish to add more shine and some protection then you may want to apply a wax or a sealant to the finish that does not contain any polishes or cleaners. This is very important when applying waxes or sealants to vehicles with modern paint finishes. You should apply some form of protection to your vehicle at least once per year if your vehicle still shines.

If your automobile's finish is fading you may want to consider employing the services of a professional Detailer. They are specially trained in reconditioning automobile finishes without damaging the delicate painted surfaces. If you elect to do it yourself, ask for help from the automotive store personnel as to which product will do the best job for the condition of your vehicle's finish. If your vehicle's finish is fading you should apply some type of protection at least twice each year.
